Intertextuality
This week I've been reading Feminist Interpretations of Hans Georg Gadamer (L. Code, Ed., 2003, University of Pennsylvania Press), recommended to me by an insightful colleague, Twyla Salm. Tonight, catching up on my Bloglines feed I notice Kristine Brorson of Historiological Notes is also working with/in Gadamerian philosophy. This find, combined with my colleague Alec Couros's recent entry on Blogging and Digital Narcissism, where he reflects on whose blogs he reads (and who he doesn't -- shades of Kumashiro?), help me to see the intertextual potential of blogs and blogging. In these seemingly unrelated events, I see what is becoming a less-than-haphazard juxtaposition of my texts with other digital texts. I also see intersections, and the intersections of our cyber texts seem to have infinite potential while remaining remarkably discrete. Renée Norman echoes here: "Writing autobiograph(icall)y... we are never just writing about our selves, but about all those to whom we are in relationship, and that spans a very wide area, too." (2001, p. 54, Peter Lang) It seems that in the blogsphere, those "relationships" are always already co-constructed, even when they are not. L:)
